Assault

Assault

California has some of the toughest laws and punishment for a conviction of a violent crime. A conviction of a violent crime can result from a charge by the prosecutor of either a misdemeanor or a felony. A conviction can result in jail or prison time, fines, full restitution to the victim, probation or parole, counseling, and a permanent entry on your criminal record. Other consequences include potentially losing your rights to own a firearm, loss of your job or employment opportunities and/or loss of your driver’s license. Many assaults are considered “strikes” under California’s “Three Strikes” Law. These charges are extremely serious and can be used to enhance future punishment in the future.

If you are being investigated or have been arrested and charged with an assault related crime, it is in your best interest to hire a qualified Southern California criminal defense attorney.

Defenses to violent crimes such as assault include failure of the prosecution to prove your identity, self-defense or defense of others. Additionally, many assault crimes are overcharged by the prosecution and the Law Office of Albert Perez Jr will work tirelessly to defend you from the charges and attempt to have them dismissed or reduced.
